Students in the course Care and Preservation of Cultural Property designed, organized, and assembled an exhibition of historic nursing equipment and attire in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the University of Delaware's Nursing Department. The project was overseen by Professor Vicki Cassman. Over a dozen objects were assessed for condition issues and researched so that professional museum labels could be designed and appropriate housing proposed for each object. The planning and final assembly of the exhibition ran smoothly thanks to the teamwork and collective dedication of the students. The objects in the exhibit included a shovel used to break ground on the site of the current Nursing Department, a scrapbook, syringe, urinal, stethoscope, and a complete uniform dating to the mid-twentieth century. The focus of my contribution to the exhibit was the research and planning surrounding the display and storage of the stethoscope, shown above.
